What We’ve Done

Surveys and Data

We have conducted university-wide surveys with Boston University students and parents to better understand the healthcare navigation experience for college students and their families:

  • We surveyed over 200 students in the Greater Boston area, and their main concerns were the lack of transparency about available options from ER and SHS providers.
  • Less than 50% of students felt confident in navigating healthcare.
  • We surveyed over a 100 parents, and their number one concern for their child’s healthcare navigation in college is SHS lack of timely appointment availability and lack of options for mental health/therapy, and sometimes, excessive ER visits.

HAS Conference

We are proud to announce that our HealthPair team presented at the 2023 Healthcare Advocate Summit in New Orleans in September 2023 with “Why Innovative Approaches Are Critical to Expand Access to Health Advocacy.” In addition to explaining the importance of health literacy among college students, we shared the data results we collected from students and parents in the Greater Boston area and received confirmation from dozens of board certified patient advocates that our services are widely needed.
